Proven Protocols for Successful Immediate Implant Placement Timothy F. Kosinski, DDS Dental implants are constantly improving our clinical results. IMPLANTS placement is now a necessary tool in any actively practicing implantologist's arsenal. A CBCT scanner (Planmeca) was used in the treatment planning for both cases. To be able to provide immediate treatment, the clinician not only needs the expertise but also the proper tools. Digital tools such as CBCT, Intraoral scanners, and RFA devices can be used in the workflow from treatment planning to surgery and to final prosthetic rehabilitation. One of the most important tools in this process is the implant itself. The new EK Implant Digital tools also further elevate the quality of immediate implant treatment.... (Figure…

Rehabilitation of a Bulimic Smile With Regional Erosion and Wear INTRODUCTION Eating disorders are conditions characterized by restricted food intake or binge eating and often by self-induced vomiting. excited the patient, with some encouragement from her spouse, she was more accepting of this approach. Intruding teeth requires more torque than aligner therapy. Using a pre-bent wire in straight wire ortho provides more energy force to vertically move teeth. The Six Month Smiles technique (Six Months Smiles) with clear brackets made this easier for our patient to tolerate aesthetically. To help our patient visualize our goal of moving the gingival margins superiorly, we took a pretreatment photo of the desired levels using floss (Figure 5). After 10 weeks of orthodontics, the gingival margins had moved about 2 mm (Figure…

Simplifying Dental Procedures With the Proper Use of Adhesive Dentistry INTRODUCTION From the time I became a dentist 3 decades ago to the present, dentistry has undergone dramatic changes in many ways. One of the most important ones is the development of advanced dental materials, including adhesives. Three decades ago, most restorations had to be retained by friction and mechanical retentive features. Dentists had to be very diligent and spend considerable cutting tooth preparations with the correct amount of taper, parallelism, or undercut to ensure the restorations would stay on the tooth. Geometric preparations require healthy tooth structure to be…

Immediately after cementation of the supragingival restorations (notice the lack of bleeding). Simplifying Dental Procedures... continued from page 74 ultrasonic tools to create perfect bevels, excessive increments and inserts to fill a cavity, immediate dentin sealing, and other demanding and marginally useful procedures that the academics consider "indispensable" to achieve the "absolute best results" are unrealistic. "The absolute best" is an elusive, unnecessary, and often unattainable mission. Do we all…
